I am a person who loves Cloud Storage. I’ve tinkered around Google Drive, Skydrive, iCloud (yuck), SugarSync, Box.com, and Dropbox.
I’ve been keeping tabs with it and received the invitation email this morning.
It has been in the “Coming Soon” phase for quite some time and they finally released it.
What is OneDrive?
Today, Microsoft released OneDrive (Successor of SkyDrive) It is a Cloud Storage provider, like DropBox and Google Drive.
You can store
- Photos (Including on your mobile device)
- PowerPoint Presentations
- Any File on your computer
- and more..
What is Different Between OneDrive and SkyDrive?
The only difference between OneDrive and SkyDrive would be the Camera Roll feature for mobile phones.
They offer 3GB Bonus of storage if you turn on the feature through the Mobile App. You can of course turn it back off after you get the bonus if you don’t wish to use it.
Other than that one feature, everything else appears to be the same to me. I’ve used SkyDrive and nothing of notice has changed between the two.
What do I Suggest?
Out of all Cloud Storage providers, I would suggest one of the following
If you are fine with a huge corporation having you data and possibly sent to NSA, then these would be my next suggestions
If you don’t like the idea of your data being stored on someone’s computer, then I suggest you read my article of Meet Lima. It turns your External Hard drives into your own personal cloud storage.
What cloud storage provider do you use?
