If you updated your blog these past few days, you may have came across an interesting update that was released; namely the WordPress 3.9 update.
Some may brush this update to the side and think nothing of it, but if you look deeper you will see there are features included in the update that are quite useful to your needs. I’ll just touch on some of the ones I love.
A smoother media editing experience
I have to agree with the WordPress release team with this. The media editing on my blog is better and smoother! I love (and I can’t say it enough) that I can finally just scale my images inside the post editor! It has really helped me with posts. The team is on the right path of making their *Free* product even better.
Live theme preview
Add, edit, and rearrange your site’s widgets right in the theme customizer. No “save and surprise” — preview your changes live and only save them when you’re ready.
The improved header image tool also lets you upload, crop, and manage headers while customizing your theme.
Summary
Is it worth updating to WordPress 3.9?
A: Yes, if you are currently using ANY version of WordPress. It increase security and compatibility with future databases of website hosting, such as PHP5 and MYSQL 5.6. Most all of your plugins should work fine on the new update, so you should go update your blog now if possible. But make sure to backup your database, just in case something weird happens. Ya never know 😉
